The Scholarship Fund
The James A. Greenleaf, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc. has been established to honor and remember a dear family member and friend who lost his life as a result of the catastrophe which occurred in New York City in 2001. The fund is used to provide financial assistance to students attending Saint Bernards School, as well as a graduating senior from Saint Bernard School to the college of their choice.
The enormous success of the annual Memorial Dinners, Road Races and Golf Outings have allowed the scholarship fund to provide St. Bernard students the following:
- 2002 - Provided a graduating senior a partial scholarship to the college of their choice.
- 2003 - Provided an incoming freshman a partial scholarship as well as four incoming freshmen full book scholarships.
- 2004 - Provided an incoming freshman a partial scholarship, a sophomore a partial scholarship, and four full book scholarships for incoming freshmen.
- 2005 - The fund provided an incoming freshman a partial scholarship, a sophomore a partial scholarship, a junior a partial scholarship, and eight full book scholarships for incoming freshmen.
- 2006 - The fund intends to provide an incoming freshmen a partial scholarship, a sophomore a partial scholarship, a junior a partial scholarship, a senior a partial scholarship and eight full book scholarships for incoming freshmen. The fund is also in the process of considering providing additional scholarships to students for college tuition.
- 2007 - The fund provided an incoming freshmen a partial scholarship, a sophomore a partial scholarship, a junior a partial scholarship, a senior a partial scholarship and eight full book scholarships for incoming freshmen. The fund also provided a graduating senior a college tuition scholarship stipend and a Waterford High School student a college tuition scholarship stipend.
- 2008 - The fund provided an incoming freshmen an increased partial scholarship, a sophomore an increased partial scholarship, a junior an increased partial scholarship, a senior an increased partial scholarship and four full book scholarships for incoming freshmen. The fund also provided a graduating senior a college tuition scholarship stipend, a Waterford High School student a college tuition scholarship stipend, and an additional graduating high school student a college tuition scholarship stipend.
- 2009 - The fund provided an incoming freshmen an increased partial scholarship, a sophomore an increased partial scholarship, a junior an increased partial scholarship, a senior an increased partial scholarship and four full book scholarships for incoming freshmen. The fund also provided a graduating senior a college tuition scholarship stipend, a graduating Waterford High School student a college tuition stipend, and a graduating Fitch High School student a college tuition scholarship stipend.
- 2010 - The fund provided an incoming freshmen an increased partial scholarship, a sophomore an increased partial scholarship, a junior an increased partial scholarship, a senior an increased partial scholarship and four full book scholarships for incoming freshmen. The fund also provided a graduating senior a college tuition scholarship stipend, a graduating Waterford High School student a college tuition stipend, a graduating Fitch High School student a college tuition scholarship stipend and a graduating New London High School student a college tuition scholarship stipend.
- 2011- The fund provided an incoming St. Bernard freshmen a scholarship for half the tuition costs, a sophomore an increased partial scholarship, a junior an increased partial scholarship, a senior an increased partial scholarship and four full book scholarships for incoming freshmen. The fund also provided a graduating senior a college tuition scholarship stipend, a graduating Waterford High School student a college tuition stipend, a graduating Fitch High School student a college tuition scholarship stipend and a graduating New London High School student a college tuition scholarship stipend.
